Exotic Hardwood Flooring: Species and Properties
Looking to buy hardwood flooring, but want to purchase something different than most traditional floors you have
seen? This is where exotic wood floors come into play. Exotic woods floors are a cut above the rest when it
comes to hardwood flooring, and have a very distinctive look compared to other hardwood flooring on the market.
There are several different species of exotic flooring including; Brazilian cherry, tiger wood,
santos mahogany, brazilian teak, Brazilian walnut, tite chestnut, and many
others.
Exotic hardwood flooring comes unfinished or finished. You
can usually get a more expensive exotic flooring cheaper if you finish it yourself once it’s laid, but if
possible finished hardwoods are less time consuming to install, and are ready to use once they are laid,
whereas, unfinished will need to be stained and finished after being installed. Depending on your taste and
price range, engineered and solid are both offered in exotics. Engineered is made up of thin slices of wood
glued together with a veneer finish on top, usually you can buy engineered flooring at a discount rate compared
to the same solid flooring, but with solid flooring you can refinish it for many, many years.

flooring has a very unique look and will add value to your home. Most exotic hardwood flooring species come from
Australia, South America, Africa and many other countries. These types of flooring can be a little more
expensive than normal hardwood, but will pay off with their looks, character, and value added to your
home.

Along with having a more unique, colorful look exotic hardwood flooring is also more dent resistant than regular
hardwood flooring species. The Hardness of hardwood is tested on the Janka Hardness scale, where exotic
hardwoods score amount the highest for hardness, which is important with high areas of traffic, children, and
indoor animals. Exotic hardwood flooring is installed the same way as any other hardwood flooring, and can be
refinished just like any other engineered or solid flooring.

Owners of Beaulieu Bliss Carpet Say Goodbye to Royston Yarn Factory
Beaulieu the owners of the Beaulieu Bliss carpet line shut down the Royston Yarn factory to
keep up with modern demands. Their reasoning for closing the factory was very simple, yarn isn’t as in demand
as it used to be. While people still buy yarn they don’t do it as often. A yarn factory just isn’t that
practical in this day and age. Instead of the yarn that they used to produce, they are putting more focus on
their soft BCF fibers. They said that by shutting down the Royston factory they would be able to make
improvements to all of their other factories that would help them keep up with demands. The fibers come in
both nylon and polyester, and provide a very high level of comfort. They are in demand unlike yarn and so the
company will be putting more focus on them, which is a wise business move.
While a large factory shutting down is bad news for all of the workers, they aren’t being left
out in the cold. Beaulieu is offering to provide jobs for all of the workers who are willing to relocate to a
different factory. Their moving expenses will also be covered. Anyone who decides that they cannot afford to
relocate will still receive help. Beaulieu will work to help its workers come up with a good resume and do
well in interviews. They will also help with any job application problems an employee might have. While the
workers are losing out on their old jobs, at least Beaulieu is giving them another option.

The makers of the Beaulieu Bliss carpet line are doing their best to provide for their employees while continuing
to stay competitive in the market. The Royston yarn factory is the second one that they have closed in the last 5
years (the Boaz factory was shut down in 2007). It is hard to deny that it was a smart business decision mainly
because that is the trend for the major carpet companies. All of the major carpet manufacturers are shifting away
from yarn and focusing more on soft cloths. Most of the major yarn factories were open for most of the
20th century. It just goes to show you that no matter how long you stay at a job you are never actually
secure. Make sure to keep your options open in the future in case something like this happens in your
neighborhood.
What Hardwood Works Best for You
While working in a hardwood flooring retail shop, the question you get asked the most is what type of flooring
can I lay on my sub floor? The answer is there is a lot of different options that may suit your needs for the
type of sub floor you have, from engineered, solid, and laminate flooring. First, you should do your research by
asking your salesperson what he or she recommends for your type of situation, but then you should research the
manufacturer’s website to get warranty information.
The type of flooring you can choose from depends on the type of sub floor you will be placing the flooring over.
Solid flooring will need to be installed over a plywood sub floor because it will need to be nailed or stapled
down to anchor the flooring in place. Engineered flooring, on the other hand, can be floated on top of an
underlayment, stapled or nailed to a plywood sub floor, or glued on top of a concrete sub floor. Engineered
flooring is usually the best choice for any consumer who has several types of sub floors; such as plywood
upstairs and a concrete basement downstairs, engineered hardwood allows the same flooring to be laid in both
places. Another type of wood flooring you may want to look at for fast and easy installation is laminate
flooring. Laminate has a veneer finish and allows for wood flooring to be placed in basically any area of the
house. There are many choices of laminate flooring, and you can get the flooring at very low cost compared to
real wood.

Any flooring will require a certain climate to be installed. You need the room temperature and humidity to be
between a certain number to maintain the life of the flooring. You should always let the flooring accumulate
before laying it, so it will not contract when it is laid. When purchasing your flooring if you are concerned
with which type you should lay in a certain area, ask your salesperson to be sure you are getting the right
product. After picking the final product you would like to have in your house, be sure to check the
manufacturer’s website for warranty information to guarantee the life of your product in the case something
arises.

salesperson to make sure you are educated on how hardwood works As just explained in the above material, there are
several things to keep in mind when purchasing your hardwood with the type of sub floor you are using. With the
right information and amount of research your wood flooring will last you decades!
